Service Description

Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist places specialty cups on your skin to create suction. Cupping Therapy dates to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians used cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C. Your therapist will place either silicon, plastic, or magnetic cups on the designated pressure points found on your body. With a pump, a vacuum effect is created on the cups. This causes your skin to rise and redden as your blood vessels magnify with bloodflow. This allows space for expansion, rejuvenation, and regrowth to an impaired site as the blood carries valuable vitamins and nutrients to the area while simultaneously asking the fascia system to relax and open. What ailments may cupping benefit? The British Cupping Society says that cupping therapy is used to help alleviate symptoms associated with: • Blood disorders such as anemia and hemophilia • Rheumatic diseases such as arthritis and fibromyalgia • Fertility and gynecological disorders • Skin problems such as eczema and acne • High blood pressure • Migraines • Anxiety and depression • Bronchial congestion caused by allergies and asthma • Varicose veins Salt stones are heated to approximately 125-130 degrees prior to your session. After warming your body with traditional massage, your therapist will use the stones as an extension of their hands throughout the session. The salt stones will warm and loosen your muscles, releasing tension and stress, all while absorbing up to 70 vitamins and minerals. One of my favorites being magnesium which aides the muscle and nervous system in relaxation. The feeling is both highly relaxing and therapeutic. Salt stone massage can be very beneficial for more than just loosening muscles. Many clients will benefit through an elevated mood and strengthened circulation that comes from the heat of the stones creating greater blood flow. What is the benefit to hot stone? • Helps relieve muscle tension and pain • May reduce stress and anxiety • Promotes more wholesome rest • May help relieve symptoms of autoimmune disease • May boost immunity • Improved joint flexibility Katie is a certified Massage Cupping Bodywork Therapist and Licensed Massage Therapist giving her a wide variety of techniques available to cater to each individuals needs.
